Maricopa Police Officers perform a wide variety of duties to promote public safety and security, prevent crime and enforce the law. - AZ POST Statement of Personal History and Application for Certification form must be completed and turned in the day of the testing notarized.
- Physical Aptitude Testing
o Passing scores for the Physical Aptitude Test are:
- Push-ups – 25 or more (no time limit);
- Sit-ups – 29 or more (timed – 1 minute);
- 1.5 Mile Run – 15:00 minutes or less.
- Written Testing:
o Passing scores for the Aptitude tests are 70% and above per section and there are 4 sections;
- Reading Comprehension
- Incident Report Writing
- Pre-Background interview
- Maricopa PD Background Questionnaire
- Oral Board interview
- Background investigation
- Polygraph examination
- Interview with the Chief of Police
- Psychological exam
- Medical examination
- Drug screen
Recruit Officer cannot be offered a salary more than the Recruit step which is $49,708.15 ($23.89 per hour) while in the academy, once you have successfully completed the academy and your Field Training Officer (FTO) program, your salary will increase to step one (1) which is $51,696.48 ($24.85 per hour).
